Babies on stage

The show I'm in opened last night. It went really well and it's going to be a super fun run. It made me think of last year when we opened and I was newly pregnant. It was not so fun doing a show during the first trimester since I was exhausted and mega-cranky. But that was Baby Jo's first play ever. She was super tiny, but she was on stage with me.

I also did a show that ran in May of last year when I was closer to 20 weeks. That was Baby Jo's second play and she did marvelously. I think my hormonal up and down even added to my performance.

Whenever I saw a play when I was pregnant Jo seemed to react by kicking. I don't know if it was the lights or various sounds or something else that stimulated her -- I'd like to think she was just learning to love theatre at an early age.

Maybe some day she'll want to do a play again. If not, that's ok too. 

Speaking of Ravel

Whenever I see the word ravel I think of Ravel...this one in particular.

Itty Bitty Baby Bunting

In preparation for our Etsy store, my mama did some prototyping for her Ravel series. Here are a few things she made for Jo. I love all of the little monsters creeping out. Jo loves them too. She's my little monster.

The Ravel Series: A mish-mash of shapes are sewn on the bunting with a wicked straight stitch leaving raw edges. In the washing process, the edges of the fabric will fray adding a soft lovely texture. Maybe it should be called the Unravel Series.

Booby Trap

Since I had so much fun the other day writing about boobs I thought I'd throw this post in the mix.

My first project with my serger was to make a whole bunch of boob pads. Not familiar with boob pads? Well, lactating women need something to soak up any leaking milk, and boob pads do just that.

Who wants boring boob pads? Not me.

If you're curious, this is what was inside my wizard bag that I posted yesterday. And yes, I'll be selling these in our Etsy store.

It's a wrap...

I went to a baby shower this weekend for my lovely friend, Laura. Of course I procrastinated and didn't have a chance to get wrapping paper for her gift (nor do I keep any around the house). So, I just whipped up this little bag from wizard fabric I have in my stash. It look 2 minutes. Really. And it's so cute. And Laura can use it again if she wants to. And I'm not wasting paper that's just going to get thrown away.

Want instructions?

1. Cut fabric into two squares or rectangles making sure they are the same size.
2. Serge or sew the bottom together. A zig-zag stitch works just fine if you don't have a serger. You can also sew the layers with the right sides together if you want the seam on the inside.
3. Serge or sew the sides together.
4. Serge or sew the top of the bag (just to finish -- don't sew the two pieces together or you will have a flat pillow instead of a little bag). 
5. Stuff bag with something delightful.
6. Tie a string around the top of the bag to close it.
7. Give it to someone!

Boob!

So there's a Swedish brand of nursing/maternity wear called Boob. Their nursing tops look cute and comfy and easy to nurse in. Apparently I can get Boob clothes at these stores in Chicago! Oh yeah, they also have super cute baby stuff too.

I want this hoodie.

How many times can I type "boob" in this post? A lot. Yay for Boob and yay for boobs!

This little piggy...

Baby Jo is grabbing her toes! I've been trying to catch a few pics, but haven't had any luck. It's probably the cutest thing in the world.
